We headed up the road in search of what we hoped to be an abandon mine. Thanks to GaiaGPS we set our tracks for a jeep/4WD road up into the hills.
After driving about 6 miles or so, we arrived at what seemed to be just an overgrown hillside with lots of Pinion Pine. There too was plenty of deer signs along several game trails. Using Gaia, we narrowed our trek to within inches of the mine! But all we found was a patch of snow.
None the less, it was a great adventure. The mountains around Turkey Rock BLM is stunning and we both have a new appreciation for Salida and Howard in Colorado.
